Look Closely

When the sun rises the plan is to feel like a million bucks,

And when the sun sets the plan is to not feel fucked,

Everybody’s got problems,

Vices,

And demons getting in,

Or scheming friends,

Cheating lovers,

Backstabbers with evil grins,

Maybe drug addictions with a binge for days,

It’s all distractions…

Keeping you busy from life’s true passions,

Writing music or rhymes,

Poetry on hundreds of lines,

Beauty in scenery,

Red,

Blues,

And greenery,

Heavens designs,

But we are missing the signs,

Fixated on struggle,

Instead of being humble and watching the leaves turn brown with the ones that love you,

Or an uncommon silence as the sun rises over the hills in the east,

Trying to be at peace and closet the spirits tormented beast,

I’ve sat and watched the clouds travel for miles hopeful one day I could roll with ‘em,

Studied the rain hit the ground understanding that same feelin’

Close your eyes the next time the cool breeze caresses your face,

Take notice,

Take your time,

Keep a steady pace,

Life is not a race,

They say it’s a marathon,

No material item can prepare you to mentally carry on,

How about an inspiring song?

Or some gentle words?

Special someone whispering I love you just to calm your nerves,

Or do something stupid just to make you smile,

Noticing these subtle things make the fight all worth the while
