Promises to the Sun

I used to hate the sun because I couldn’t relate to it,

Now I need it to show me light and break through it,

When it’s quiet,

Silent,

And I’m feeling dark,

It comes over the hills and provides a spark,

It’s the only thing that I feel now that could keep me warm,

My fear is when the storm comes that it can’t perform,

Where’s my protection lie when the clouds invade?

Cold front in the shadows,

Old friend comes along reminding me of pain,

Knows how to pull my strings,

Poke,

Prod,

Consume my dreams,

Control my thoughts,

Cut,

Stab,

Pull at the seams,

I don’t think pain goes away,

We just become numb to it,

Pink Floyd-

“Wish you were here” is sung to it,

Sit in silence,

Emotions a ghost,

Sitting at the table with fear as it performs a toast,

Sun-

I need you as the light recedes,

To see my wounds to heal them,

Don’t abandon please,

Give me life,

Strength,

Help me carry on,

When I’m better you’ll have me forever,

My words my bond,

Loyalty,

Love,

I do what I ask,

I look to you to brighten the future,

And darken the past
